Cave of the Springs of Aggitis River
The cave of the springs of Aggitis river is located in the Municipal District of Kokkinogeia in the Municipality of Prosotsanis, 25 kilometres NW of the city of Drama. It was discovered in 1978 by a team of French speleologists in collaboration with the Hellenic Speleological Society and its uniqueness is due to the river sources at the south foot of Mount Falakro.
Multicoloured stalactites in a variety of shapes are found alongside the underground waters of the river which together form rare images of hitherto untold beauty inside the cave.
Age-old plane trees among which the river Aggitis flows embellish the entrance and environment of the cave. It is an ideal place for visitors to spend their time and relax. The cave is open daily (including weekends).
